About Laura Smith.
Clinical Herbal Therapist.
Laura Smith
Hi, I’m Laura, founder of Rocky Mountain Herbals. My journey into herbal medicine started early, learning folk remedies from my grandmother. One of my favorite memories is waking up to her voice saying, “We’ve had the first frost, we have to go get the rosehips now.” I was no more than four, but her passion sparked a lifelong dedication to natural healing.
In 2016, I decided to deepen my knowledge by studying at Dominion College, North America’s only accredited herbal school. I graduated as a Chartered Herbalist in 2018, completed Herbal Consulting in 2020, and earned my Clinical Herbal Therapist certification in 2023. In October of 2024 I received my Registered Herbal Therapist status with the British Columbia Herbalist Association.
My studies combined herbal wisdom with modern science, covering herbal chemistry, remedies, and medical topics like pathology, anatomy, physiology, and herb-drug interactions. I completed over 500 hours of clinical practice in Vancouver and Victoria.
For the past 15 years, I’ve sold my herbal products at farmers' markets, using wild-harvested herbs from my partner’s 360-acre property in the Blaeberry Valley. I stay deeply connected to nature while foraging in pristine high country.
Alongside creating remedies, and of course seeing patients, I’m passionate about educating others. I offer workshops and consultations to teach people how local herbs can enhance health and prevent illness. I love going to peoples’ properties to show them what herbs they have and how they can be used. I believe in blending traditional remedies with modern healthcare, collaborating with doctors and other health professionals to provide holistic care.
At Rocky Mountain Herbals, my mission is to help people reconnect with nature and take charge of their health, naturally.

“One of my earliest and favorite memories is my grandmother waking me one morning very early – “We’ve had the first frost, we have to go get the rosehips now” I might have been 4 years old, maybe 5. I miss her and wish I had had the time to have learned even more from her.”
